Casual Retail Sales / Production Assistant

Hunter Candles are looking for a passionate Retail Sales / Production Assistant.

An exciting opportunity to join our proudly small, and growing team!

  • Based in central CBD location in Sydney / Newtown Sydney

We are looking for a scent focused, considerate, and approachable person to join our rapidly growing small team at our newest location in the iconic Strand Arcade in Sydney, and our Newtown store.

We are sales driven but don't want to only focus on conversion. Our goal is to help people in any way they need. We guide: whether it be scent tips, restaurant recommendations, or the best hidden rivers.

A day in the life of a Hunter retail assistant: 

  • Provide customers with a unique experience in areas of scent, scent pairing suggestions, scent styling tips, and a basic understanding of the olfactory system.
  • Product education: communicate detailed explanation of blends, production, materials, desired effect and best care instructions.
  • Demonstrate the culture held within Hunter, including: passion for scent and curiosity whilst creating a warm and relaxed environment for customers
  • Receive and restock shop and stock room independently, counting stock twice a week
  • Answers phone/online inquiries as required
  • Communicate with manager on any customer feedback
  • Utilize Point of Sale card system, process payments, refunds and exchanges and issue gift cards
  • Communicate with the team for order details, pick-up and delivery
  • Move around boxes for inventory that can weigh up to 10kg

  • Experience in luxury retail
  • Ability to quickly identify customer needs and customise solutions suitably
  • Passion for scent, and candles!

  • Enthusiasm to deliver exceptional customer experience

  • Clear verbal communication - verbal and written
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Able to work independently
  • Ability to recognise and achieve sales targets
  • Comfortable with taking direction and staying self motivated
  • Passionate about small business
  • Availability to work 1-2 days a week
